Defining Hypervisors and Nodes

A hypervisor or node (these terms mean the same) is a single physical server that hosts multiple virtual private servers (VPS).

RackNerd operates hundreds of physical nodes/hypervisors within each datacenter location.

We maintain rigorous standards for our status page updates. Any service disruption, even if limited to a single node among hundreds in a location, is promptly reported on our status page to ensure full transparency.

In our commitment to full transparency, we diligently report all known issues or maintenance activities on this status page, even if it is a scheduled maintenance or a non-customer impacting event. This ensures you have comprehensive, up-to-date information about our infrastructure status at all times.

Interpreting Status Meanings

"Operational": This means all nodes are fully operational. There are no service disruptions on any of the physical servers in the respective location.

"Partial Outage": This typically indicates an issue with one or a small number of hypervisors in a location, not the entire datacenter. 99% of the time, this affects only a single hypervisor/node out of our entire infrastructure in that location. In such a case, most customers in that location are unaffected.

"Major Outage": This rare status indicates an issue affecting the entire location.

Important Notes

Individual hypervisor issues are not indicative of a location's overall performance. Most incidents remain isolated to specific node(s) without impacting the entire facility.

11th May 2021

Los Angeles DC-02 Los Angeles DC-02 -- Partial Network Outage

We are aware that there is a network related outage impacting a portion of customers in Los Angeles DC-02. Our upstream provider (Multacom) is aware of the problem and currently investigating the issue.

Update 7:47 AM PDT: Thank you for your continued patience. As some customers were inquiring for more information, we are able to confirm this is a network related incident that is partially affecting some servers hosted out of Los Angeles DC-02, this incident is not power or facility related. The issue is being worked on by our upstream provider's network engineers and we were told it should be resolved soon.

Update 8:16 AM PDT: As an update our upstream has made progress and services appear to be restored. We will be updating you with more information as made available to us. In the meantime, if you are still experiencing any connectivity issues, please be sure to open a ticket and we’ll help.

The event was caused due to a software related problem in one of the core routers. Both IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity should now be fully stabilized.

San Jose Datacenter San Jose Datacenter - Intermittent network connectivity

Some clients hosted out of San Jose may experience intermittent network connectivity, temporarily.

We are aware of intermittent network connectivity affecting a portion of our San Jose KVM VPS nodes. Network engineers at our upstream provider have been notified and are looking into optimizing and resolving this.

Update: This appears to have normalized and network engineers upstream have optimized some routes. Please feel free to open a support ticket if you are still experiencing any issues.

Los Angeles DC-02 Fiber2 (One cPanel Shared Hosting Server)

We are aware that one of our cPanel shared hosting servers, Fiber2 is inaccessible. We are currently looking into this.

UPDATE: This is now resolved and Fiber2 is now accessible again. There was a routing issue impacting the main shared IP address only. Customers with a dedicated IP were not affected by this incident.
